I just purchased 2 used Sea Doo's, both are 1996 models. 1 is an XP
the other is an SPX. They have both been sitting for a while (not sure
how long, maybe a year). Both start and run really well. When taking
off slow and bringing the skis up to cruising speed they do fine. I
have noticed though that if you give them full throttle from a
standstill, the skis will attempt to take off but both will stall and
immediately cut off. Is anyone familiar with this? I was told that a
carb rebuild should take care of this.

Have you replaced the Spark Plugs? I had a problem with my Ski would at
Random times when trying to go full speed start cutting out and loosing
power and speed, I thought it was a serious problem, the plugs didn't look
really BAD, but I replaced them and the problem was cured. It's a cheap
fix, and I normally just replace mine once a year anyway. The year I didn't
was when I was having the problems.
