I took my JetSki to a incompetent dealer in League City, Texas in an attempt
to get a starter changed and they informed me that the motor needed to be
removed because my starter was stuck. It was NOT stuck, just the clueless
technician not understanding how to work on the ski. The starter is mounted
via two bolts that are screwed into the starter and then secured by
locknuts. The tech removed the locknuts and then proceed to try and pry the
starter WITHOUT removing the screws. In the process they broke the oil line
going to the bottom of the engine and then let all of the oil drain from the
reservoir which was full, into the bottom of my ski. They did not think to
clamp the line to safe the oil.
I replaced the starter with one from SBT and am now reassembling the rest of
the engine. Is there anything that I need to do to prime the oil before I
start it the first time? There is still oil in all of the other lines and
the only one that was broken is below the throttle body.
