Yup, I agree. Also, SBT's website is very professionally done, which makes
me trust them a little more as well. Every question I have about their
products is answered on the website. They seem to know their stuff pretty
well. That and an endorsement by Bill O. are enough for me to order a motor
from them. Mine ships on the 24th...they're back ordered on 951s.

Well I have seen SBT warranty in action. I'll just leave it at that. I would
just say if you have a good complete core, then they may make some sense for
some casual rec riders who ride very little or for someone who wants to just
sell it after installing the motor. But it never seems to fail that most
people don't have a complete core that will get them full credit and have to
pay extra for the engine to cover the bad core components. So for my
money(especially on a 951) I want an engine that has the best available OEM
or better parts installed and assembled by someone I can physically talk too
and that I know and have port work or other performance services done if I
choose. And cost about the same as the SBT after considering core charges.
Do you think they use the best available parts in the rebuild process? Or
ones that may cost a little less? I am asking. What if you want port work
done? You are going to have them do it? If not the shipping costs will kill
you.

I don't know if SBT will race port a motor but I have seen them clean up
the horrible port work on Yamaha's before sending the motor out. I've
seen Yamaha mismatch ports by 1/4" from the factory and have never seen
a mismatch when we got a motor from SBT. Frankly, if the 760 in my
Blaster II ever goes, I'm sending it to SBT and will plead with Greg to
"breathe" on it a little bit and send me back my own motor since I know
it's history. Their crank work alone is worth the money compared to OEM
(never saw SBT 6 degrees out but wasn't unusual on some brand new OEM
cranks). People need to find a shop that handles SBT, order through
them, pay them to install it. If the customer did that with us and the
motor was bad, we covered all the labor to swap it back out (only
happened one time and we suspected it was the customer "tinkering" with
the carbs). You may pay a little more for the motor and obviously the
labor but then the customer has a fully warranted job that they can go
ride for a year without a care and frankly, if it goes a year without a
problem, it's going to go five or six. The core issue is a concern but
they can't do what they do without a rebuildable core and even with that
core charge, they are still reasonable, I agree with another posters
comments that Bill O has been there and likes their motors for
recreational replacement and that's a pretty high endorsement
(considering how senile that old goat is these days - takes one to know
one - LOL).
