last Wednesday evening I took my '96 XP out for a quick spin. I immediately
noticed that it was lacking top-end power. It idles fine, and runs low,
mid, and upper-mid range fine. When I would hold it wide open it woud feel
like it was full power for a second or two, then bog down just a tad (almost
like a clogged fuel filter) for a second or two, then back on full power for
a second or two, etc. After doing this for 5-10 minutes, I parked it and
popped off the seat. As water would drip on the pipe and heads, it would
sizzle. I've never noticed this happening in the previous 4 years I've had
it.
My question is, how do I know that water is adequately cycling through the
engine? (Water is shooting out the little tube by the rear tow hook
thingy.) If water is not cycling through the engine sufficiently, will this
cause my top-end throttle issue? If not, what else should i look at? It
was just running find a week ago today, so I'm not sure what changed over
those 4 days.
