I'm sure that I'm not the first one who has developed a leak in the
first section of the purple pipe.(upper) I would like some advice on
removing the
leaky first section, if it is possible to remove just one section.
My difficult spot now is the flange band that holds the two sections
together is it possible to remove this band while leaving the lower
pipe mounted?

I've loosened the band as far as possible, I can't separate the pipes.
can the band be completely removed from the pipe?

Yes, just loosen the band and separate the pipe. New gasket and clean up the
surfaces.
