97 xp accelerator pump bypassed ???? help

hey
my buddie has a 97 xp
from the best i cant tell its completly stock ( no flame arrestors, ect)

it looks like the accelerator pump was disconnected at 1 point or another
the boat now has a classic " lean bog to stall" symptom and has difficulty
starting after it has run for 30 min.

question
can this boat be jetted to work ( with no risk to the ' time bomb " engine)
and does anybody have a jetting / pop off #s for a stock xp ( and stock xp
with out the accelerator pump ) this i s a 97 " all white engine"

I'm running stock carbs that have been de-choked and R&D Flame
arrester on my 99'SPX...these are the same carbs as the 97' XP! I have
run the carbs with and without the accelerator pump with no jetting
changes (only jet changes made were for the de-choke & flame
arrester). The main purpose for the accelerator pump is to draw a
little more fuel into the venturi at low speed stabs of the throttle!

If the carbs have not been cleaned and overhaul lately, I would look
into doing so, and pay close attention to the internal fuel filters!
If these filters clog up, it will cause the symtoms your are
experiencing!

i think you can raise the low jet by 5....

why not ust reconnect them!!!

id like to put it back as close to stock

but i think the accelerator pump housing and insides may have had a water
issue ( eeew) and it looked like it was seized up

ive got a jet kit and it might be easier to jet the mess away wile i have
everything open to clean

i figure somebody had messed with the pump and had jet #s and pop off # i could
just stuff it together

this guy who owns it just paid 4000 bucks for this ski ( ouch !)
