I'm sure this question has been asked a couple of hundred times, but I
couldn't seem to find an answer ........ so I'll ask it again. What's
should be the normal compression readings (new engine ? .... engine with
average wear ? .... and an engine in immediate need of a rebuild ?) for the
infamous 1999 Sea Doo 947. I've been blessed with owning a '99 GSX Limited,
and a '99 GTX Limited, both of which seem to be lacking a bit of compression
lately. We must have left some of it out on the lake.

Thanks for the info ........ Jim

My 02 XP reads 135psi and has about 30 hours on it. I think gauges seem to
read different depending on what you have.

140-145 psi at sea level with a calibrated guage.

When you have lost 10 psi, it's time to rebuild.......

It doesn't sound like this is a question of a good gauge or a bad gauge, I'm
using a relatively new Snap-On gauge .... however I'm only getting 96 out of
one cyl, and 92 out of the other, but on my neighbors boats it reads a happy
138. Sounds like its time for this GSX to go into the shop for a while.
Thanks again for the confirmation.
