I appreciate the assistance I've received from the group regarding my 1996
Seadoo GTX purchase.
I replaced the oil and fuel filters, installed new plugs, greased the prop
shaft, installed the anti-rattle kit, and replaced the impeller oil. Visual
inspection of the impeller showed that it was in excellent condition, no
dings or damaged blades.
I did notice, however, that the impeller oil was mostly water indicating a
leak in the seals. When I removed the cone that houses the oil I noticed the
o-ring was not seated, rather it was caught in between the mating edges
probably causing a poor seal. I replaced the o-ring and ensured the cone was
properly sealed with loctite.
At the lake the ski started very easily, the anti-rattle kit did not have
much effect, but no big deal. Top speed was still right around 50. It still
runs rough as the ski climbs onto a plane, but rips once it gets on top of
the water. Maybe I'll take it over Lazlo and have him take a look at it. I
