Help for newbie

I am looking to buy a couple new PWCs and really am getting all kinds of
differing opinions on makes, models and reliability issues. I happen to like
the RX-DI, for my needs, but have grave concerns about the engine...the
947cc. You guys really beat on Sea-Doo about the 951's, and I am assuming
that is the 947cc engine....is that right? If so, are they still having
problems with that engine or has Sea-Doo made improvements or headed off
problems in the 2002, 2003 models? Of course the dealers tell me everything
is fine now, but I would like to know what a bunch of people who talk ride
and work on PWC's all the time think. I can afford the ski's but ain't
nearly wealthy enough to have them fixed all the time.

I also like the Ultra 150, but it might be too much ski for our use.
Something a bit more stable, rather than tippy (at least from my test ride
that is my observation) because I ain't planning on racing or cutting a
course, which is what the 150 seems to be best at.

Your comments would be appreciated.

Thanks for the answer: could you elaborate on why the RX-DI or Ultra 150 are
boats you believe one should avoid? I thought the hulls rode true, but a
test ride doesn't tell you much about build quality and reliability.

I did ride a GPR, though not the STX-R. I'll have to expand my search
apparently, but in the meantime if I am going to eliminate the two boats I
did like could you tell me why that is your recommendation?

Thanks again for your help, this apparently seems like the one of the few
places to get an honest answer and it's kind of you to take the time to
respond.

I would avoid the DI like the plague.
I really wouldnt go witht he Ultra, either.
Go lok at the GPR or STXR. If i were buying a new performance oriented play
boat, I wouldnt look at either of the two.
All things being equal, I think and STX-R is the best performance boat
available right now, but I really really like my GPR.
