You change the pitch of the impellor.
Really.

Bill, how about a follow-up questin to Dave's question? What pitch
would you recommend for a 95 HX, with the only mod being a Westcoast
head? What brand is prefered, and which should be avoided?
Thanks, Bodine

The idea is to get the motor to change rpm by at least 100 rpm, up or down,
depending upon what you feel you need. Call David at www.impros.com for a
price to re-pitch your impellor.
The reason for the change is that the motor viberates badly at the rpm that
causes the bolts to shake loose or snap the heads off. Unless of course, the
crank bearings are toast, then it will shake anyway.
