can anyone give advice on sospenders

This site the place to go for real good advice.
I do mostly pond fishing from a Fishcat or an inflatable pontoon.
Bass pro has about 10 different types. I am hoping to be able to get
something for about $160 or so.

Sospenders, and other inflatable pfd's, are like different pickup trucks.
Some swear by them, others swear at them (or because of them). I have
Sospenders and Mustang models and like both. One caution though, if you get
the automatic kind then you'd better stay dry or it will go off on you.
First trip out with my Sospenders it rained horribly all day. No problem.
Afterwards I laid it down in the back of the truck (inside the camper
shell). While driving home I noticed this big beach ball in the back of my
truck. Moisture had worked its way over, under, and into the release and it
did its job of inflating. Cost me $15-20 to refit. Since then I hang up both
models if worn in the rain. It's a small inconvenience, but I'd rather have
the automatic feature in case I, or a partner, should be ill or hurt if I/we
fall in.

LOL. I've had mine go off a couple times. When the guy doing the carpet on
my boat wanted to see what the little cord did, when I left one on the back
deck as I manuevered inot a channel and a branch brushed it off the boat,
when I left them laying on the sole of the boat and it rained, when my kid
wanted to see what the little cord did...

I wish my recharge kits were as cheap as yours.

Stearns and Mustang also make them, I've seen the auto models for as low as
$110, save $50 and take the Mrs. to dinner.

I have had the Sospenders auto style about 5-7 yrs. I think they are
well worth the money. They have never gone off when in driving rain.
If you fish cold weather/water they are, in my opinion, a good buy no
matter what the cost.

How much is a comfortable easy way to save your life worth?

BTW, buy at least one recharge set. Mine went off in a puddle of
water in the back of a pickup when retrieving a boat :<}

That recharge kit was purchased and used at least 6-7 years ago. Today I pay
over $20 and sometimes close to $30.

By co-incidence, I got the latest bass-pro spring fishing classic news flyer
today and lo and behold, thay have about 8 inflatables on sale and the
recharge kit on the featured vest is only $17.00 and the vest is $40 off
too.
Think I'll go with it.

I guess I can a little bit. The one time I went in the water in a
tournament my life jacket was laying on the deck of the boat. It was a
February tournament. Brrr... Don't know how long I can tread 50 degree
water. Don't want to know either.

Dan, your mention of cold weather made me think I out to post this. I'm
sure most of you know this, but you should NEVER wear your inflatable
UNDER your jacket or coat. If it inflates under clothing, it can
restrict you so tight that you can't breathe. It's something that some
people might not think about, since they are used to wearing it next to
your shirt.
