Women's coat/jacket suggestions fo?

Hi-

My wife needs to get the warmest coat or jacket possible before she'll
even THINK of doing anything outside with me!

Any suggestions? Are there any kinds of fiber or down that are the
warmest?

The warmest solution IMO is a good dry suit, you can find good ones
suitable for watersports like pwc'ing at kayak stores. You put on as
many layers of thick warm clothes as you want underneath and the seals
at the wrists and necks will keep you warm and dry.
In off-season cold-weather riding I'll wear maybe even four or five
layers of shirts and sweatshirts and it's amazing how comfy you can
stay. I'll put on thermal long johns under my jeans, and maybe two
pairs of thick wool socks under the attached booties that are part of
the dry suit, thick neoprene gloves (and a trick I learned more
recently is to wear a pair of regular latex kitchen gloves under those
for a few extra degrees of warmth). You/she'll also need a neoprene
hood that covers your head and face, and goggles. It's some money and
kind of a pain to take everything on and off, but it's well worth it
for the experience of riding out on a beautiful late-fall or even
early-winter day. With a good quality dry suit, even if the worst
happens and you fall into the water and have to climb back on board
your 'ski, you're still all right, it's happened to me a few times and
you're still dry underneath the suit.
