Believe it or not, I'm two weeks behind in the annual battle with unwanted
plants ( I'm too PC to call 'em weeds Smile here on my place

We have a new one, commonly referred to as 'goat heads' that is a truly
major pain and I've spent the last couple years dousing the isolated areas
it inhabits with Roundup and then taking a propane torch to what remains
..... still got some Sad

Anyone have any experience with 'Preen' and it's effectiveness in preventing
these ... damnit, WEEDS .... from sprouting ?

I tried it once, and it did seem to have a temporary effect in my
veggie garden; but my nemesis (quickweed?) is persistent, and the
garden, faced with chronic neglect from me, eventually succumbs every
year. It's okay stuff, but it's not a magic bullet. Paraphrasing the
old VW ad, it definitely works, but does not work indefinitely.

Ah! the plant that created the demand for Never Leak. It made going
bare-foot in California so much fun. The state is controlling them
with bugs the stem boring weevil, Microlarinus lareynii and the fruit
boring weevil Microlarinus lypriformis.
Here's the web site.
http://www.cdfa.ca.gov/phpps/ipc/weedinfo/tribulus-terrestris.htm

I went back to one of my child hood haunts a couple of years ago. I
could have walked around bare-footed. Thirty years ago it would have
ment a long session with needles and tweezers

Roff
including some intricate discussions of which, This in itself is an an
interruption -

It Certainly for the better!
Also definitely more interesting.
And I would like thank him for it

My interruption is pure BS

So between Larry and our official record keeper, scorer and typist -

I am optimistic that I may glean a thing or 2 from this group again - maybe?

After applying Preen it should work until the surface is scratched. My
gardener guy said you have to replace the preen of the ground gets
scratched.

Whew! For a while there it looked like this thread might slip by without
