The GPR is fuel injected, so fuel efficiency should be superior. The
Ultra can be an ankle biter in the rough without aftermarket handling
pieces, so you should bear that in mind when evaluating what kind of
conditions you will be riding in. Find out how much riding weight
each can handle so if you plan on a second passenger, it is feasible.
I am guessing that the Yamaha has a huge advantage for aftermarket
performance parts.

The Ultra has some handling issues for an inexperienced rider. The GPR
has some reliability issues for everyone (powervavles, pump seal, catcon
- doesn't affect UK models). I've owned both and prefer the GPR because
Kawasaki doesn't fit tall riders but was happy with the Kawasaki other
than the seating (extremely reliable ski).

RIDE BOTH FIRST. I have an Ultra and have riden both and perfer the Ultra
in the conditions I ride in. I DO NOT LIKE the seat on the GPR its too damn
wide.
