Boats like that are widely rowed and raced here in Scandinavia. They are
pleasant to row as the geometry of the rig is the same as a fine boat and
they are indeed quite fast. but more importantly they will handle washes
from the power boats that abound here which would sink a fine boat in
seconds. We have to contend with horrendous washes during the day and early
evening as drivers are most inconsiderate and certificates of competence for
power boat drivers are becoming compulsory this year. Whether that will
improve things is somewhat doubtful IMO.
