I will be in New York on the 29th March and wondered if any of the US
contributors to this group know if any of the US networks will carry
the race?
thanks in advance

Setanta have carried it in the past (2006), but I don't see any plans
for them, or anyone else, to cover it this year. You can usually get it
via the BR web site in RealPlayer format after some delay.

had no idea you could get Setanta in the US
probably going to show my age now but "BR" immediately makes me think
of British Rail - but what does that stand for in your post?
thanks though - may be useful depending on the delay as I fly back to
the UK on the 30th |

yes as I said I'm showing my age BR is instilled as British Rail.
never seen the botarace shortened to an acronym
but I'm still not getting the answer I need, I guess I need to wait
for our US friends to return from a hard days toil (or perhaps they
will sneak a peek at rsr when they are drinking coffee) |

Will not be, and never has been, on a US network. There's no interest
in the BR in the US and no network will get any advertising revenue if
they aired the BR. Your best bet is to watch it on-line. |

Sorry, I meant Boat Race by BR . If Setanta do show it, then there
are a number of Irish pubs in NY that take a feed to show EPL and 6N
Rugby games live. You might be able to persuade one of them to switch a
TV over to it.

Excuse me, but I have a video recording of the ITV coverage of the 2006
race (rough water - remember?) that Setanta showed live.
That was a good day in our house.
Some years back, the old Fox Sports World also showed it on delay, but
they are dead and Murdoch'd now.

Is this a semantic confusion?
I understood (from years of watching imported US TV) that when the US
Networks are referred to, it generally means the national, free-to-
air, broadcast channels NBC, ABC, CBS and FOX - as opposed to local,
cable, Setanta etc. |

No, almost everyone here now has cable or satellite. Anything on either
is now regarded as a "network" channel.
