This is amusing:

When I saw the ads I thought the overhead sculling shots were
beautiful but that the technique was a bit splashy. I just figured
the good Dr. J. was still learning.
Too bad there isn't a link to the ad video.

I have an interest here but direct to consumer advertising of drugs is a
very bad idea. You only have to let your mind boggle how Heath Ledger
collected an extraordinary collection of opiates and benzodiapines probably
quite legitimately. |

Word is that the sculler is a body double for Jarvik. And my
question is, if you're going to use a body double, why not find one
who can row? That's pretty nasty technique.
Cheers,

Bob, coached any beginners lately? ; )
That guy certainly isn't going to the Olympics, but aside from a tense
looking grip, it is not all that bad! He's probably having fun. |

Do you mean just in general or the apparent left over right, right
over left, left over right switcharoo?
I'm not sure who they got to do the rowing, but since our club loaned
the boats they needed for filming, I'll ask around.
I think the close-up with the "tense gripping" is actually the real
guy, and about what we would expect to see for someone who doesn't
actually row.

The deck hatch switches side, so they've just reversed the picture.
Did you notice the unrealistic "creaking wood" sound they added in the
close-up shot... |

It gets worse:
http://tinyurl.com/2xjgp9
"But at the last minute, I was informed that the insurance carrier for
the shoot would not permit me to row because the water temperature in
the mountain lake at that time of year was about 40 degrees -- so cold
that if I had an accident, I could drown within minutes because of
hypothermia. So the production company hired a rower experienced with
that kind of racing shell for the distant shots."

Tea. You're certainly welcome to some. Milk or sugar?
Actually he was neither a stunt single nor a stunt double. The guy
was a masters rower recruited from a rowing club, so he didn't do
stunts and take risks for a living.
Given Dr.J's apparently elastic ethics, perhaps rowers everywhere
should be grateful he never practiced medicine?
BTW, stripped of all the lipitor stuff, it might make a good sculling
and general-health ad, no? |

Carl, you forgot the "rim shot" after your funny. [ )
Sheesh! Apparently we can't trust Doctors about medicine, Butchers
about meat, or Boat builders about boat design. Who in the hell are
we supposed to ask? Oh, it must be the Barber!
Damn cynical approach to life, good luck in it.

As long as it's not something about haircuts.
If their (and/or their family's) livelyhood or kudos depends on it,
confirm it with someone else.
