Just looking at the entries page on OARA and given hundreds of
options:

E.8+ Open Senior - Elite 8+ 75
S1.8+ Open Senior - Senior One 8+ 75
S2.8+ Open Senior - Senior Two 8+ 75
S3.8+ Open Senior - Senior Three 8+ 75
S4.8+ Open Senior - Senior Four 8+ 75
NV.8+ Open Senior - Novice 8+ 75
E.LWT.8+ Open Senior - - Elite 8+ 75
S1.LWT.8+ Open Senior - - Senior One 8+ 75
S2.LWT.8+ Open Senior - - Senior Two 8+ 75
S1.8+ HMF TROPHY Open Senior - - Senior One 8+ 75
S2.8+ HMF TROPHY Open Senior - - Senior Two 8+ 75
S3.8+ HMF TROPHY Open Senior - - Senior Three 8+ 75
S4.8+ HMF TROPHY Open Senior - - Senior Four 8+ 75
NV.8+ HMF TROPHY Open Senior - - Novice 8+ 75

Anybody know what is meant by "HMF TROPHY" and what the difference is
between NV8+ and NV 8+ HMF TROPHY??

I believe HMF is Her Majesty's Forces - the fastest crew from the Army/
Navy/RAF etc. Not sure why it's listed as seperate to the other
categories however, maybe it's just so the organisers can pick out
who's HMF eligible quickly?

I got confused with this when I looked at the WeHoRR entry as it has a
similar number of categories- in previous years you just ticked a box
to say 'we're eligible to win this award' but OARA obviously can't
cope with this. Can't think of other events where they have these
awards that are on top of winning a status category. So you can win S1
8+ and win the Vernon, or you could equally come 3rd in Elite 8+ and
win the Page.

basically you need to work out your category first (eg S2, E Lwt, N)
then work out which awards you are eligible for (even if you're
unlikely to win them).

awards include things like

Venon Trophy - Tideway club crews only
Page Trophy - Thames clubs, not on Tideway
Jackson Trophy - non-Thames clubs only
and as stated the Her Majesty's Forces (HMF) trophy

the list of awards are on this page (scroll down to number Cool

the HMF trophy is awarded by the combined services rowing organisation
and (as a committee member of WEHORR) I can tell you we just
'administer' the event - they provide the cup and decide who is
eligible.

We used to do the same for BUSA too.

Entries are now up here:

http://www.kingston.ac.uk/~kx21229/startord.htm

No Oxford or Cambridge entries, and precious few UK Elite crews
either, presumably because of the lack of GB squad athletes.

Cheers,
Nick
