Anyone here ever taken one of these apart? My ancient altimeter's
acting up in 500 foot increments, and I thought I'd look into it. I
know there's always SSE, but I can't not take a crack at it. Tom

Thanks, yes, I'd found them during my initial searches, but I'll bet
that there's someone out there who's done this before, and has the
ability to describe the procedure coherently. Might be occult
knowledge. I guess I'm just scared of removing the indicator needle.
I hate using force in the wrong way.. Tom |

Use a fingernail grip, and pull straight up.
It's a press fit on a tapered shaft.
Replace it by pushing straight down. |

Piece of cake. then, easily removed the works from the case. Next
problem: making sure that that mainspring stays put when I remove this
top plate...I dunno, somehow the six week layover at alti2.com seems
less and less bothersome. Tom |

How'd it come out, Tom? Will it live, or must you resort to the SSE?

I wish SSE was still extant, as they had a lifetime warranty. The
prognosis is not good right now. I'm pretty hamfisted... |
