98 GSXL displaying "MAINT" at startup

It happens every 25 and 50 hours, Press the set button 5 times and watch it
go away. Better yet, have it serviced.......

Ah, ok it's a preset warning then. I got worried since I just serviced it 2
weeks before Smile

And the last time I had it out, it showed 74 hours. I
bought it with around 50 on it, and don't remember seeing it before now.
Guess it happens every 25 hours or so?

I found my manual and you have to hold set in for a few seconds (when it's
being displayed) to reset it.
