95 waveraider problem

95 700 waveraider...first time out this season, in 40 minutes the motor
got pretty hot before the daughter figuired out what was going on. It
got hot enough to discolor the motor paint a little. My question, What
to look for for problems, I'm motor smart, but never worked on these
yet. Am i looking at water pump problem? Also the hull had a large
amount of water in it, either seals bad on the hull or something. I have
to research that problem.
Also a good source online for a motor rebulid manuel/parts.
Any help appreciated

OK, thanks for that info. Flush Kit, That i don't have, will look into

sounds like a cooling hose came off. That would explain why the head was hot
and the water in the bilge. I would run the flush kit and see if it is
leaking anywhere. I would also do a compression check to see if there was any
ring damage from overheating.

If you put it in the water, check the front pissers to see if water is coming
out.

Also...

If you have a leak in the bilge and it is NOT from a cooling hose, then you
also need to check the cooling lines coming from the head to the pipe. It
could be clogged. I still think a hose either came off and is flooding the
bilge or a hose ripped and is not feeding enough water to the cylinders to keep
the head cool.

What would the symptoms be of ring damage, i.e. would the waveraider
be slower out of the hole? I asked because I have a '97 WaveRaider.
My buddy took it out yesterday and got it clogged with weeds. I think
he ran it for about 10 mins. at low idle while it was clogged. By the
time I got to him and got it unclogged, there was white smoke coming
out for the front water sprayer.

I unclogged it and a couple minutes later when water was able to fully
circulate and the engine cooled, I was able to drive it at top
speed,although it hesitated at first. After that, it appeared to work
fine. Is there a tempature sensor or something on the waveraider?
