1100 zxi- instruments

the instruments don't come on and neither does KATS....

actually they do, for a moment.

when you turn the masterswitch on, the oil and overtemp lights come on,
and then fade out... or that's what they are supposed to do, on this
one they come on for a second, and then there's a click, and everything
goes out. like a relay is shutting the power off.

subsequent attempts to cycle the masterswitch on and off lead the
'lights going out and relay click ' to happen faster....

there's a controller up above the oil tank there if i remember, anybody
familiar with what relay powers all this stuff besides the power that's
fused and comes from the trim box?

You may have a bad trim control box. I think the relay click you hear
may be inside that box. I'm pretty sure that's where the sound comes
from on my '00 ZXi. If it helps any, I posted the electrical schematic
out of the '96-'02 1100 ZXi shop manual here:

There are going to be some minor differences from year to year, but if
you don't already have any schematic at all, this may help a lot.
